Perkins for Colchester

We all have limited time these days. Below are links to more about my ideas and how together we can find the right path for today and tomorrow. Please reach out with your biggest concerns. Thank you.

Colchester operates under a "Town Manager" model that is set out in Vermont law 24 VSA 1236. The 5 selectboard members collectively advise and direct the Town Manager who has been given much of the authority to act in the Town's interest. I am running for a seat on the Colchester Selectboard to participate in and contribute to our community.

If elected to the Selectboard I will do the homework. I will be available to the Board for additional assignments such as community outreach or district meetings. Most importantly, I will be available to voters and residents as a resource to help them stay informed and connected to this beautiful town.

The Deeper Dive

A Selectboard member is integral in helping determine the direction of the Town but there are many other plans and rules that have been created over time that are, or should be, driving how the selectboard and the town manager operate. If you are interested in local government or passionate that you would like to see local government address specific issues, here is a link to the 2019 Town Plan. There is a lot of great stuff in there as well as how the Town views everyone's neighborhood. As a fellow Colchester resident I would be happy to have a conversation about any points listed within it.

Other "good reads" if you want to know what our town is doing on our behalf - and I am serious about this: Vermont law was put in place so that all voters of a municipality could build a town government that they together would benefit from.

With the question: How do we adjust these plans to help us in 2025.
